It’s a fun exercise, and an invitation to the readers to think about the idea of a book, but nothing more. Not a great start to the collection a showcase of interesting ideas, but nothing really stands out in this fanciful enumeration of how various species in the universe might create/perceive books. The Bookmaking Habits of Select Species 5,5/10 This review will vary slightly from my usual posts as each story or novelette forms a separate whole, I will review each in turn and give score to each separately in short paragraphs. His works won multiple awards, Nebula, Hugo, Locus and World Fantasy Award among them, and I must say that, at least with regards to the collection The Paper Menagerie and Other Stories, he deserves quite a lot of the praise □. But the readers of short stories know him predominantly as a talented SFF author with his own unique voice and unerring focus on humanity’s past and future, cultural diversity and a peculiar vision of transhumanism. He is also known as the author of a “silkpunk” epic fantasy book, The Grace of Kings. Ken Liu has been known as the translator to Cixin Liu’s critically acclaimed Hugo award winner, The Three-Body Problem. Title: The Paper Menagerie and Other Stories

Love is not something we give or get it is something we nurture and grow, a connection that can only be cultivated between two people when it exists within each one of them - we can only love others as much as we love ourselves. “If you own the story you get to write the ending.”
In each chapter Tripp succinctly covers a different biblical principle and explains how it relates to parenting. From this Tripp makes his case that Christian parents should have this overarching principle direct all of their parenting efforts. As ambassadors parents should not attempt to accomplish their own will, but rather “faithfully represent the message, methods, and character of the leader who has sent him” (14). Tripp begins his book by advocating for parents to realize that they are not owners of their children but ambassadors for Christ in the raising of their children. Tripp focuses more on the big picture than specific discipline techniques and continually reminds parents that lasting change begins in the heart, both for parents and children alike.įrom the beginning it is obvious that Tripp’s book is not your typical parenting book, even within the Christian parenting book market. Paul Tripp’s Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles That Can Radically Change Your Family is a refreshing book in this space. They often vary widely in their approaches to discipline, views of the sinfulness of children, and even the primary responsibility of parents. When it comes to the topic of parenting there is no lack of books available. Pranks involving frogs and decapitated lawn gnomes do not a potential boyfriend make. REVIEW: Better Than the Movies by Lynn Painter. The annoyingly attractive next-door neighbor might seem like a prime candidate for romantic comedy fantasies, but Wes has only been a pain in Liz's butt since they were kids. Now that he's back in town, Liz will do whatever it takes to get on his radar-and maybe snag him as a prom date-even befriend Wes Bennet. But her cool, aloof forever crush never really saw her before he moved away. Perfect for fans of Kasie West and Jenn Bennett, this "sweet and funny" (Kerry Winfrey, author of Waiting for Tom Hanks) teen rom-com follows a hopelessly romantic teen girl and her cute yet obnoxious neighbor as they scheme to get her noticed by her untouchable crush. Out of her dad’s guidance, she still drink a lot and go to parties. When she was sent to her Aunt Lou’s house, she started going to school and met new friends. I don’t understand why some people hate their parents, I just wanna ask them what will you feel if 10, 20, 30 years from now you’ll have your own child and they will hate you? Moving on, Amy is not a bad girl, she’s just lost and drinking alcoholic beverages has been her company. Hating them will not solve the problem, and much more drinking alcoholic beverages will not solve everything. At first, I didn’t like Amy’s attitude, I kind of hate her for hating her dad, it makes me question myself why hate your parents? It’s your parent/s. I did not find Hartley to be that compelling of a character. So much potential for some deep, meaningful scenes, and every opportunity was ignored. Some examples: Callum and Easton and their drinking problems, Sebastian’s brain damage, Sawyer’s response to his twin almost dying, Easton’s reaction to Steve’s declaration, and the list goes on and on. Every time there was a chance to have a truly meaningful scene, the author shied away from it and went back to the rinse and repeat formula. I almost gave up reading the series by the time I got a few chapters into Cracked Kingdom and realized nothing was going to change. Repeat Steps 1 -5 again and again and again.
